This is our 4th one of these printers for light business use and it is perfet size for a desk. The small ink cartridge sizes go a long way as well.
I got this printer just before I left for college. Not a single jam or any issue going on 4 years now. It came free with my computer bundle, and I've never had an issue. I don't print photos, but for general document/essay printing it has worked amazingly. Very reliable, and the ink is much less expensive than other printers (about $12 for black and $18 for color when separate, twin packs run about $23). If you need a printer for a student, this is a great option.
I have had this for over a year, it still works well. The only complaint is it sometimes doesn't recognize that there is paper, other than that it works fine.
I purchased this printer about a year ago, and have been wanting to write a review to warn people for most of the time I've had it. For the first couple of months, it worked fine, but ever since, it the paper jams approx. I am a stay-at-home Mom, and only use this printer for printing incidentals, like coupons or recipes (once or twice a week). I did spend a couple of days reading reviews for home printers, and decided on this one, but am still very disappointed in it, especially for a HP product. 2 out of every 3 prints. This printer is terrible, and as soon as I get the time to shop (again), I'm going to replace it.
I've had this printer for about 2 years. It's fine unless you're printing on photo paper.I've been sitting here all morning trying to print several pages of photo paper and 9 out of every 10 pages that I try to print on, gets jammed.Then, you've gotta unplug the power to clear the print job from the queue.And after that, you've gotta remove the plastic piece in the BACK of the printer, to remove the paper.It's driving me CRAZY and if I owned a sledgehammer, I'd turn this printer into dust.Don't buy it, get something that at LEAST has the jammed paper remover on the front.
